HOME Feature editor-in-chief's opinion
A Better Newspaper
Hello everyone!! I am the new editor-in-chief of the English newspaper in 2012. I am so excited to publish my first newspaper as editor. At the initial meeting about our first issue, we discussed ideas to make the paper more interesting. Our aim is to produce not a boring newspaper but the kind of newspaper that you would want to read.
At first, we conducted a survey to determine what kind of articles CWNU students find interesting. The results showed us that the most popular reads are interviews, global news, puzzles, Sudoku, and entertainment news. They also gave us ideas on how we can improve the newspaper. Given this information, we selected suitable sections to be included in our newspaper.
Next, we set our goal which is “To increase readership among CWNU students.” We would like to reach out not only to foreign students but Korean students as well. With this in mind, we promise to feature exciting but easy to read English articles. We decided to stay away from articles that are boring and difficult to understand.
Finally, we decided to improve the appearance of the newspaper and make it more appealing and attractive at first glance. We would like to make substantial changes to make it more pleasant to the readers’ eyes. Here are some of the changes we have made:
-OO’s notice
This section is aimed at encouraging students to participate in programs run by the university. It tells you about the activities at the General Human Resource Development Center, Language Education Center, and International Affairs.
-Beauty of Korea
This section features articles about unique Korean customs, language, cultural assets, costumes, music, etc.
We guarantee you that reading the pages of this first issue will leave you wanting more. Read on!
