October 9^th or Hangeul Day is a national holiday to celebrate Hangeul’s creation and excellence. To commemorate the 568^th Hangeul Day, the Department of Korean Language & Literature held 'Hangeul Week' from October 6^th to October 8^th. It was the second year of the event, and professors and students created the slogan, 'Hangeul, blooms at CWNU'. Events were composed of various and interesting programs.

On the first day, a writing contest was held at the front of the College of Humanities. Many students wrote their stories and thoughts about the topics through prose or poetry. "It was a refreshing experience to write my own poetry. I realized that literature is closed from daily lives. Also, I am grateful for getting a chance to celebrate Hangeul," said Yoon Su-jeong (Department of Microbiology), who participated in the contest. Not only was there a contest, there was also an exhibition of illustrated poems that students wrote and illustrated themselves. People appreciated them and left messages of support for their favorite poems.

On the last day, at the Bongrim Student Hall, there was a lecture by Jang Sung-jin, the professor of Department of Korean Language & Literature. "When you live in the world, you must set great store by artless sensibilities which give me warmth," Jang reminded of the students of the importance of Hangeul and literature. There was also an award ceremony for the writing contest.

Thanks to the Hangeul week events, students could recollect Hangeul. They could realize that Hangeul is not just characters but the spirit of Koreans. Overall, it was a very meaningful and informative event for students.
