Nowadays many people are interested in their health. All of them know the importance of getting exercise. However, people do not get enough exercise for many reasons. We conducted a survey of 120 CWNU students to know their exercising habits.
The first question was: How often do you get exercise in a week? 37 of 120 students said they never get exercise (31%). About half (52) of the students said they sometimes get exercise (43%). 31 of 120 students said they get exercise everyday (26%).
Next, we asked students who replied ¡®never¡¯ why they don¡¯t exercise. Over half students said they are lazy (65%). It means they have time, a place and money but they are lacking willpower. Experts advise them to make an appointment and do exercise with their friends or family. 4 of 37 students said they don¡¯t have time (21%). 4 of 37 students said they don¡¯t have any place to do exercise (11%). Only 1 of 37 students said economical problems (3%).
We asked students who said ¡®sometimes¡¯ and ¡®everyday¡¯ the average time spent doing exercise.
Almost same percentage of students said they spent 10-30 minutes (34%) and 30-60 minutes (35%). A small percentage of students (3%) said they spent 0-10 minutes. What is remarkable is that 28% of students said they spent over 60 minutes. That is, over half students (63%) do exercise over 30 minutes.
The last question was: why do you get exercise? The reasons were to keep their body in shape (54%), stay healthy (39%), relieve stress (7%) and acquaintance¡¯s advice (0%). It means students get exercise because they want to keep their body in shape more than they want to stay healthy.
People¡¯s life expectancy is getting longer. One of the secrets of longevity is getting exercise so people have to make extra time for exercise in a busy life. Getting exercise is good for not only physical health but mental health. Take care of your health while you still have it!
