When was the last time you donated blood? Today, Korea is on alert over declining blood donations. However, consistent public relations efforts have been effective in increasing the number of blood donations to save precious lives. Thus, a blood donation campaign at CWNU is scheduled to begin. The campaign is to be held from March 18 to 19, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Blood donation vehicles will be located at Bongrim station, in front of the library and the engineering college.
Blood donors who participate will be given benefits and presents. Firstly, blood donors will earn 4 hours of volunteer service time. Because of this, participating in the event can be very meaningful. Secondly, various prizes will be given to blood donors who graciously donate their time and blood at a blood bank. Dining vouchers, movie coupons, hamburger coupons for Lotteria, coffee coupons for Caffebene, a fine quality set of nail clippers, and cases and cosmetics for men will be given away. Also, during the event, gift certificates will be given to every blood donor at CWNU.
For reference, there are 3 types of blood donation. There is whole blood donation, plasma donation, and platelet donation. Whole blood donation involves collecting 3 blood components (red cells, plasma and platelets). Plasma donation involves donating a concentrated collection of plasma only, through a process called apheresis. Platelet donation involves donating a concentrated collection of platelets only.
This event will provide an opportunity for all students to donate blood. For more information call the Student Affairs Health Office Section at 213-2068.
