From October 6th to 8th, the ‘International Ubiquitous Manufacturing IT Exhibition 2010’ took place at Changwon Exhibition Convention Center (CECO). The Enterprise Information Intelligence (E.I.I.) team from the Dept. of Industrial & Systems Engineering participated in this exhibition and won a grand prize in the ‘2010 Green & New Technology Foundation Competition.’ The team consists of two graduate students and two undergraduate students from the Dept. of Industrial & Systems Engineering. Their work redounded to CWNU’s honor. The exhibition was hosted by the ‘Gyeongnam Robot Industry Foundation’ and Changwon city.

The E.I.I. team presented the ‘Half Reclamation-formed Self-Generating Bicycle Storage System’. This item alleviated existing problems and inconveniences. This item is environment-friendly, using solar heat, and the bicycle was highly recognized as a convenient one to use. The Campus Journal met Jung Woo-kyoung (2nd year, master’s course in Industrial & Systems Engineering), a leader of the E.I.I. team, to check up on some facts. He related his opinions to us in an interview:

Reporter (R): How do you feel about receiving this award?

Jung Woo-kyoung (J): I am glad that our effort finally paid off. We had prepared for this competition under the guidance of Prof. Kim Ji-kwan (Dept. of Industrial & Systems Engineering). I’d like to
express my heartfelt thanks to my co-workers who went through all sorts of troubles with me: Lee Geun-hyun, Choi Dae-geon, and Min Ban-ya.

R: What is the profit from this competition?

J: We won the grand prize and took a cash prize of three million won. Our item was exhibited at the main exhibition hall of the ‘International Ubiquitous Manufacturing IT Exhibition 2010’. In addition, we will receive assistance for product development and production.

R: Please tell us your plan for future activity.

J: We’ll endeavor to bring honor to our department and school at the next contest. We will supplement our weaknesses through attending seminars. Our team will remain in existence with new members.
