CWNU held the ‘2010 Natural Sciences and Engineering Experience’ classes for the first time in Gyeongsangnam-do with Seoul National University(in Seoul), KAIST(in Chungchong-do) and Sungkyungkwan University(in Gyeonggi-do) from August 4-6.
Korea Institute for Advancement of Technology(KIAT) organizes the experience classes to develop the awareness of new industrial technology among young creative people. Also KIAT is operating natural sciences and engineering experience classes annually in order to lead students to choosse natural sciences and engineering as their major when entering college.
CWNU participated in experience classes as a representative in Yeongnam area, Honam area and other areas. CWNU provided various experience opportunities to 60 middle and high school students who passed the young people future imagination technology preliminary competition. Students visited research organizations on campus, including electric research organization and learned through observation while lodging together at CWNU for two nights and three days. Also, they got personal guidance from graduate students and they performed a project by teams.
Participating students listened to the detailed explanations from each department’s professor and university students regarding what kind of vision there is if they chose natural science and engineering as their major and on how product of research contributed to the industrial technology and information society development.
Through these classes, students were able to dream a future through conversations with a senior, class participation, and special lectures by natural sciences and engineering professors.
