In April, CWNU stadium was filled with the excitement of athletic competition. The College of Engineering held its competition on the 14th, and the College of Natural Science competition and social night were held on the 15th.
The two colleges held qualifying events early in March, and the runoff games were in April. In the College of Engineering competition, the Dept. of Physical Education won soccer, Electronic Engineering won basketball, and Environmental Engineering won foot volleyball, kickball and dodge ball. Additional events included a 500-meter relay, a rice wine drinking competition, a tug-of-war, Korean wrestling, group jump rope, and arm wrestling.
The prizes for the Engineering competition were 200,000 won and a trophy. The winner this year was the Department of Civil Engineering.
"I feel good about the students' general enthusiasm and response." said Sin Ju-Sung (Mechanical Manufacturing Engineering, 04) the student leader of the college of engineering. "But the university didn't cancel any classes, although this was one of the biggest events in our college. Thus, the students' rate of participation was low, so I am disappointed." In the College of Natural Science assembly on the morning of the 15th, the Dept. of Biology won soccer, the Dept. of Child and Family won dodge ball, and the Dept. of Physical Education won kickball.
Afternoon events included a drinking contest, limbo of love, group jump rope, relay badminton, and water balloon toss. The Natural Science 'Social Night' was held at the college. At this event, freshman and juniors had an opportunity to associate with seniors. The school band Cyprus was the invited performer.
