Yun Hyun-Min said, “Each committee dealt with the four themes : ‘Role of the UN Security Council’s North Korea sanctions committee’, ‘Implementation Plans of the UN Strategy to Fight Terrorism’, ‘World-wide Efforts to Promote Rights of the Disabled’ and ‘International Efforts to Meet the Millennium Development Goal by 2015’. I like to share various ideas about the four themes with other students. And the conference was a good opportunity for me, because through the conference, I made more personal connections with the participating students to have similar major such as Political Science and Diplomacy with me.”
The conference, hosted by the UN Association of Republic of Korea and sponsored by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade and KOICA(Korea International Cooperation Agency), was held at Pukyong National University in Busan from July 7th to 10th.
Since its inception in 1995, the Model UN Conference - Korea has been held every year to allow university students to raise the awareness of international organizations such as the United Nations and expand their knowledge and experience in the international organizations.
And about 500 students from 57 universities took part in the conference. It dealt with the current issues affecting the international community, such as the four themes mentioned earlier.
