¡ãRecently remodeled library in the first floor lobby |
The most notable change in 2018 on campus is the opening of ‘Maker Agit, Fablab Changwon’ on the first floor of the library. It was renovated to support utilizers to manufacture products based on their ideas with up-to-date digital equipment; it used to be a space for searching information and printing documents with computers and for watching TED videos. Not only CWNU students and staff, but also ordinary citizens can utilize this place after registering as a member.
This kind of space is called 'Maker Space' and the idea spreading all over the world as a new start-up cultural area. This indicates that unlike the old concept of the library, which only delivered information and knowledge, the concept these days is that it is for developing and inventing novel creations. It is expected that Maker Space at CWNU is going to be used to experiment fusion cogitation and combining academic theory and information.
The space has been furnished not only with basic digital production equipment such as a 3D printer and laser cutter, but also a UV printer, dual heater press and leather crafting machine. In addition, there's a facility tour every day and training apparatus program to extend the 'start-up' atmosphere. Creativity workshops to make various themes of products will also be conducted on a weekly basis.
Kim Mi-jung from the office of Industrial-Academy Cooperation said, “Maker Space will provide everyone with an opportunity to resolutely challenge,” and, “I hope numerous students from various majors and mentors can make whatever they want.”
How to use Maker Space is explained on the official homepage (http://www.maker-agit.kr)afterjoining.Adetailedscheduleofworkshopsandprogramsisonthewebsiteaswell.
