Fashion week is a fashion industry event, lasting approximately one week, wherein fashion designers and brands display their latest collections in runway shows to buyers and the media. These events influence trends for the current and upcoming seasons. The most prominent fashion weeks are held in the fashion capitals of the world in New York, London, Milan, and Paris. Additionally there is a Seoul fashion week to be held in South Korea.

Fashion Week is looking through trends and predicts the next season by presenting the collections and also offers good opportunities for new generation designers. During the showcase period, we shall look at the overall culture of the country through fashion as well as presented fashion itself. Two major fashion fields, Street fashion and High fashion coexist in this Fashion Week. So during the week, there is no limit to be a star, just put your values to your own style and then enjoy it!

New York Fashion Week (NYFW)

Among the world's four major Fashion Week cities, New York Fashion Week starts first in the largest commercial and financial center. New York features its sophisticated image and modern style. That character melted naturally to NYFW. NYFW seeks practical beauty. Various runway brands of minimalist design can be described as the main feature. There are representative brands such as Ralph Lauren, Lacoste, Calvin Klein, Marc Jacobs, Alexander Wang, etc. NYFW is held twice a year every February and September. During the February season, there are Fall and Winter outfits (F/W) on the contrary Spring and Summer season (S/S) trends open in September. The main fashion show operate on an invitation-only system but there are also some shows the general public can participate in. If you missed the week, you don’t need to be disappointed that you missed it because representative art museums like Museum of Arts and Design, The museum at FIT, and Cooper Hewitt Smithsonian Design Museum welcome your visit where you can feel the atmosphere of NYFW.

London Fashion Week (LFW)

London Fashion Week features the experiment of the past and the future and is full of ongoing experimental ideas. London Fashion is made of exquisite combinations of classic and modern style. LFW has strength to create present by progressive past. Someone has said that ‘the fashion of clothes circulates’, and I want to add ‘fashion of clothes circulates through London’. It is also the opportunity to meet with budding designer brands, as well as leading traditional brand with a new trend, British classic. There are such leading brands as Vivienne, Westwood, Paul Smith, Margaret Howell, Burberry, and Mulberry.

Milan Fashion Week (MFW)

Home of the world's luxury brands, there is Milan Fashion Week on the land of fashion in Italy. MFW is the center of enchanted craftsmanship, high quality brands, modern design, and attractive colorful clothes. I can look at a preview of next season. There are many brands that come to mind with the name alone, the eminent luxury brands such as Gucci, Fendi, Prada, Versace, Bottega Veneta, and Armani.

Paris Fashion Week (PFW)

Paris Fashion Week in Paris is full of inspiration that can’t be explained in one sentence. It has the most artistic fashion of the four fashion collections. So PFW is considered as the dark horse among the "Big Four". By introducing colorful and sensual fashion, it’s called fashion art rather than pursuing practical fashion. PFW’s art inspires people because there’s no limit. Leading fashion brand Chanel, Louis Vuitton, Yves Saint Laurent, Dior, Hermes, etc. are all gathered in one place.

Seoul Fashion Week (SFW)

Hosted by Seoul Metropolitan Government and organized by Seoul Design Foundation, Seoul Fashion Week is a bi-annual series of global fashion business events, held in March and October. It has two main features. Seoul Collection, which is a series of top Korean designers' fashion shows, it is one of the largest fashion business events in Korea. First held in 2000, the Collection has become the most distinguished collection among all, along with the growth of the Korean fashion industry. Second, there is a special section, ‘GENERATION NEXT’ fashion designer training program. The participants are restricted to designers of independent fashion brands that have one to five years of short history. Generation Next features an uncommon perspective and fresh ideas, the collection serves as a gateway for the next generation designers.
