Additional Point for Military Service is Right

Originally, Korea Military Academy accepted men only. However, there were many women who want to go to The Military Academy. They laid claim to liberty of job. They say ¡°woman¡¯s physical problem isn¡¯t trouble to complete army¡¯s mission. It cannot be sexual discrimination¡¯s reason. Woman isn¡¯t inferior to man physically. ¡° There are perfect basis. So The Constitutional Court has permitted women¡¯s entrance. And Few years later, Veterans recruitment advantage was abolished. Many people are angry about that judgment. So they argued ¡°Women go to the army.¡± A lot of women¡¯s group opposed to that assertion. But the men¡¯s basis of an assertion are perfect.

The reason that doesn¡¯t allow admission of a woman is physical problem. But The Constitutional Court admitted
that woman¡¯s physical problem isn¡¯t trouble to complete army¡¯s mission.

The Military Academy¡¯s training is not different from enlisted man¡¯s training. It is okay to be an officer in body strength, but does enlisted man¡¯s training have physical problem to women ?

Now in Korea, Only men have responsibility by duty of national defense if they have the obligation to do national defence, they would have a right guarantee Veterans recruitment advantage.

It is not easy to turn over the law which was rejected by the Constitutional Court.

What if the system of summing point for the military service is to reduce the disadvantages through performance of obligation to serve in the military?

The system of summing point for the military service is the system giving Koreans who fulfil the performance of obligation to service in the military additional 3% or 5% marks of the perfect score with different subjects in written test when they take the test operated by protection implementation institution for job, if the person who fulfil the performance of obligation to serve in the military apply for the test. Now the revival of this system is embroiled in controversy. I think that is very an unfair dealing. There are several reasons I thought like that. First, the additional 3% or 5% marks of the perfect score with different subjects in written test is very crucial. The small mark will be the deciding factor in whether you¡¯re hired or not. For example, most of the applicants said even two points can make a difference in teaching profession.

As we view a matter from a different standpoint, it is a disadvantage for women who do not have the obligation to service in the military to apply for that test. Second, although all man do not have a choice for the military service, to give man the additional point is a kind of reverse discrimination about sex. If a woman wants to get the additional point for military service, because women do not have the obligation to service in the military, she has to serve more time than a man. It is in adverse condition compared with the man. Then why there are so many arguments about this system? Because it is in relation to the job. In society, usually common companies prefer man than woman because woman in her latter twenties does marry. That is same to man, however, woman will have babies. My intention is not ¡°woman having a baby and menses so there are so many troubles and that is painful.¡± As woman have the baby then she can not do the work during the period of pregnancy. So the company will get the various problems when woman employee are during pregnancy. Many companies want employees to work for long together. But there are many cases that women after childbirth quit the job, companies naturally select the men employee than women. But it is still a problem not solved. Most of the women have no choice for her infant care and family. It is an unavoidable reality. Women have to give birth and children need to be taken care of. So many women give up their job. So thinking realistically, it is reasonable for the companies to prefer men. So still many women are having big problems for getting the job. In this situation, if we give men the additional point, our problem of sexual discrimination ran up against a brick wall one more time.
