CWNU Radio Broadcasts by CUB

Almost everyone at CWNU has heard the radio broadcasts aired in the morning, at lunch and in the evening. Don¡¯t you want to know who airs this program? I met one of the members of CUB, whose name is Yu-bin Kim (Department of Korean Language & Literature).

Q. Why did you enter CUB?

Kim. When I was a middle and high school student, I wanted to be in broadcasting, but I was afraid of applying for it. When I became a college student, I happened to see a notice that recruits members for CUB, so I applied for it with my friend.

Q. What is the most difficult thing working as a member of CUB?

Kim. It is hard to study and work in CUB at the same time, but the most difficult thing for me is time management. The CWNU Newspaper and The Campus Journal have deadlines and you can work at home when you have free time. However, we have to do work at the station at fixed times. It makes it a little tiring to manage my schedule.

Q. Recently, a professor posted a message on a CWNU community called Waggle. He said, ¡°Airing broadcasts at lunch time creates noise and disrupts classes. I hope CUB stops broadcasting at lunch time.¡± What do you think about it?

Kim. Ever since CUB opened the radio station, we have aired at lunch time. We don¡¯t have any plan to stop broadcasts at that time, but we respect his opinion and turn down the volume as much as possible. We can¡¯t control the volume of each speaker so it is a little difficult to turn it down more than it already is.

Q. What have you gained from working at CUB?

Kim. I can better control my voice, pronunciation and tone. It is helpful when speaking in class. In the long term it will also be helpful in becoming a voice actress, which is my dream.

Q. Would you like to add anything else?

Kim. CUB is involved in production, technique, reporting and announcing. We have started making CWNU campus news as videos this semester. We are making these videos due to vicissitudes. We will continue our effort to create better broadcasts. We would like to hear your opinions, and we hope to have your support.
