On March 11, 'School of Nano & Advanced Materials Engineering' hosted a special lecture. A guest speaker was Lim Heung-Soo who is a CEO(chief executive officer) of Hyundai Wia, METIA, WISCO, and AIA. He was asked to make a speech by Lee Jae-Hyucn who is the chair head of Dept. of Metallurgy and Materials Engineering. Because Mr. Lim specialized in metallurgy and materials engineering at the university, he gave a ready consent to request. His speech was progressed satisfactorily for an hour. It was divided into two sections.
First, he introduced his company; Hyundai Wia, METIA, WISCO, and AIA. Specially, he introduced India's market potential, population, religion, education, natural resources, and his experiences in India. HMI(Hyundai Motor India) is a corporate body in India. 600 thousand vehicles are produced by HMI in a year. The automaker expects to increase its market share in India and use the new factory to export vehicles to regions such as Europe and the Middle East. HMI tried to contribute to public welfare in India, so it received a presidential award. Nowadays a lot of companies expanded into India market.
However, there is shortage of high-quality human resources. For students who have interest in oversea internship, he recommended taking internship opportunity in India. Unfortunately, that area has a bad living environment; poor water and groceries, danger of terror and AIDS(Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome), and severe heat wave.
Second, he said about global human resources. He said "CWNU's vision is 'Confident University, Internationally Competitive University.' Now, CWNU set up sisterhood relationship with 79 universities 17 countries. Our company demands not TOEIC score but useful English speaking ability. He stressed the need of aggressive and sincere attitude. In addition, he said "If you want to compete with specialists in the world, you need to act wisely and quickly.
When I was a college student, no one stressed global mind. But I took lessons in a foreign language institute until promotion to the position of section head. I think you have something inside of you that is worth a great deal. Please enhance the value of you."
After a special lecture, he awards a scholarship to Lee Jong-Min(School of Nano & Advanced Materials Engineering, 05).
Mr. Lee said "Thanks to him wholeheartedly. Through this lecture, I learned the right people whom the companies prefer. I want to develop my ability for employment."
