Lee Yong took the honor of Benedetti-Pichler Award which is labeled as Nobel Prize in the field of the Microchemical.
It is the first award in Asia. The Korean who earn the glory of awarding a prize is a professor of chemistry department in CWNU. Prof. Lee is selected as a 2009 prizewinner last year. He attended a ceremony of awarding prizes and symposium held at convention center based in New Jersey on Nov. 18, and Nov. 19 this year.
Microchemical Journal which is in charge of the ceremony announced that they expect to gather thesis from eminent scholars in chemistry throughout the world and publish a special issue to celebrate Benedetti-Pichler awarded on Dec. 1. The ceremony of 2009 Benedetti-Pichler Award took place at local time 11 a.m. on 19.
A chairperson of Benedetti-Pichler Award Committee said that Prof. Lee’s writings and thesis about LIBS(Laser-induced Breakdown Spectrometry) are receiving high praise and he made a contribution to helping the foundations in science and mankind. Then Prof. Lee stated his impressions of awarding that he would like to express thanks to all of his co-workers who inspired him to further efforts in difficult research conditions. He will strive to concentrate on study and training younger students over the coming months. Many distinguished scholars and last prizewinners attend invitation dinner reception held at 6 p.m. on 18, before ceremony.
About 200 scholars congratulated heartily on his awarding. Prof. Lee’s adviser, Prof. Sneddon, Prof. Michel, Prof. Soper and Prof. Butcher announced jonit research with Prof. Lee at the symposium. Then Prof. Lee hold an awarding lecture regarding LIBS.
