CWNU Wins Four National Canoe Races

CWNU won the overall championships of the national canoe race. CWNU took 14 gold and 1 bronze medal at the 11th Baengmagang National Canoe Race held in Chungnam, Buyeo from the 1st to the 3rd. Jegal Min-woo (Physical Education 4), Kim Jun-su (P.E 4), Kwon Gi-hong (P.E 2) at CWNU won four gold medals and all 11 CWNU players took gold medals. Jun Jin-ho, a manager of the CWNU canoe team, said “I am glad to win four consecutive canoe races. However, we bear much burden to keep doing well because we have always done well.” Kwon Gi-hong was also selected for the national team in ‘The 2015 Canoe-sprint National Squad Selection Contest’ and will debut in 2016 Brazil Rio Olympics. This contest was divided into 200m (3 people) and 1000m (2 people). 1000m that Kwon participated in selected 2 in 44 players including high school youth group, a university team, a business team, and current national players. Kwon Gi-hong said, “I think that I could get a good result by enjoying the competition without any tension. After being a member of the national team, I shouted very loudly. Although I am a little small among canoe players, I proved that small players can go canoeing well enough and I want to become hope to players who have short height.”
