Apply for Foreign Culture Exploring Program

What do you want to experience during the four years of college? Students give a variety of responses but lots of students said they want to experience overseas travel. However, overseas travel is expensive so it¡¯s difficult to go with a friend but there is an alternative. It¡¯s the "Foreign Culture Exploring" scheme that CWNU operates.

CWNU recruits a Foreign Cultural Exploring team which tries to ensure students make the most of their vacations by allowing them to enter a competition to go to another country. At the moment the application process for winter 2014 program is happening (October 6th to 13th 2014). In order to apply for the Foreign Cultural Exploring program, students should enter the competition in a team of 3/4 people and each student must have a credit score higher than 2.5. The teams select a travel theme and destination. The winning team is selected using the credit and language score (60%) and the results of the correlation of topic, concreteness of the plan, the sincerity of the pre-survey and the educational effects of going to the country (40%). If two teams are tied, an older age group is chosen. The team is expected to be selected on October 28th. The winning team will be given an orientation on November 4th before leaving on their trip.

A team called "dream of square" visited Finland and Sweden from January 11th to January 21th 2014. The investigated the differences between the Korean education system and the Northern Europe education system. They went to Vittra school. This school is famous because it does not have a classroom. Instead there are special education spaces made in different colors and unique shapes. This space can enhance the creativity of students. An Ji-Hyeon, a team member, said ¡°The education of Nordic countries respects the opinion of each student and allows self-learning. There are also lots of opportunities for Nordic children to experience a variety of programs. I think that the Nordic education system is good and I hope that lots of students take advantage of this.¡± Finally, she said ¡°Do not be afraid to apply for this program, it will be a good experience for you.¡± If you want to get more information about the Foreign Culture Exploring program£¬ call 055-213-2114 or go to¡¡ the office of student affairs¡¯ homepage (http://portal.changwon.ac.kr/home/student).¡¡
