16th Architectural Exhibition and Dance Performance

Two annual events are held at CWNU in September, an architecture exhibition and a dance performance.

The Department of Architectural Engineering held an architecture exhibition from September 4-12 in Building 54. Students displayed their building models, staying up all night, concentrating and agonizing over finding better ideas. Finally, their tenacity and ambition prevailed. For example, student Kim Bo-ram made a children¡¯s village using empty houses. Student Seok Jung-min, concerned about the torrential downpour at Wolgaedong in Seoul, used his architectural knowledge to prevent disasters, instead of building a site or facility.

Department of Architectural Engineering head Cho seong-woo said, ¡°The importance of communication was emphasized. We selected communication as this exhibition¡¯s subject. We tried to express the beauty of architecture. You can see students with great architectural works. Students need your encouragement. Thanks for coming.¡±

The president of CWNU, Lee Chan-gyu, said, "Congratulations for holding the 16th exhibition. Thanks to all the students, professors and parents.¡± He added, "If students always remember their experience in college, they can carve their way successfully in a society using their experience.¡±

In Building 85, the Department of Dance held their 16th dance performance on September 4th at 7:00 PM. This performance was made up of ten acts. Each act had a different theme. All the Acts revealed their effort and passion. Audiences especially seemed to like Act 2 through Act 4, among other Acts.

Act 2 was titled ¡°Schizophrenia.¡± Two dancers who wore red shirts appeared. The dancers wanted to express how we live in a busy society, how people pretend to be calm but how they may feel schizophrenic inside. The dancers with red shirts under red lights clearly showed what they wanted to get across to us.

Act 3 was titled ¡°A Red Snake.¡± There was a red snake that wanted to be human. It had stolen a woman¡¯s body but the snake recognized that she could not steal a woman¡¯s soul. The red snake wore a red dress and another woman wore a white dress. The two dresses were totally contrasted, helping the audience understand the story and concentrate on the performance.

Act 4 was titled ¡°Why am I.¡± This act asked questions such as ¡°Why am I alone?¡±, ¡°Why am I different from others?¡± and ¡°Why am I treated as an outcast?¡± Dancers described a school¡¯s harmful effects. During this act, we could hear news about a student committing suicide due to school violence. The audience went silent while this act finished.

Because dance stimulates many senses, dance has more power than mere writing sometimes. This dance performance showed it perfectly. It made people happy through dance and the messages given.
