CWNU to Construct ¡®Humanities Hall¡¯
CK Group CEO and Teawang Development Company representative promise to construct ¡®Humanities Hall¡¯ and donate it to CWNU

Nowadays, humanities books are not selling, so stocks are piling up. Students are avoiding the Department of Humanities. Many universities in Korea are abolishing and merging humanities departments because they do not garner good reputations in university evaluations, which give a high value to employment rates. As a result, humanities departments are increasingly losing their places. In this crisis CWNU determined that they will begin construction on the ¡®Humanities Hall¡¯ in order to develop humanities.

Last year in April, a CWNU committee was given 44 million won by 100 people, including CWNU members and citizens of Changwon. In early July, CK Group CEO and CWNU development president Byeong-Chang Moon, and Teawang Development Company representative Hyun-Gyu Park promised to construct the ¡®Humanities Hall¡¯ and donate it to CWNU. A CWNU planning member said, ¡°The Hall will be a place where the college and local community can gather. It will also train students who are needed for the community and local companies.

The College of Humanities mainly does large-scale lectures. Considering this, the building will have tiered seats that can accommodate 232 people.

In 2012, the Hannam University Humanities Hall held free lectures. High school students to the elderly attended these lectures to develop their knowledge. Likewise, CWNU expects the ¡®Humanities Hall¡¯ to play a big role in carrying out various humanities programs such as international seminars and special lectures by celebrities.
