CWNU Canoe team belonging to the Department of physical education won the first prize at a Whole country Canoe sports competition. This was their third win in a row, so now CWNU students think that the CWNU physical education team is highly specialized in canoeing.
The whole country canoe sports competition was held from April 28th to May 6th at the An-dong canoe stadium and Kim Dae-jung (13’. Dept. of Physical education) earned the MVP award this season. The CWNU Canoe team won 13 gold medal, and 6 silver medals.
The total number of participants was 9, and they all did their best in this competition. They won the first prize in the 200m kayak, the 500m 4 man and 2 man kayak. They also won the first prize in the 2 man 500m and 1000m kayak and one-man Canadian canoe.
For most of the participants in this event this was another successive win, so many people recognized that the CWNU canoe them is best team among the many amateur university’s teams.
“We have spent a lot of time as a team” said Jung Hun-seok (14, Dept. of Physical education) “and we also have difficulties because this sport is influenced by the weather. Excessive hot and cold weather bring about low concentration during training, but all the members trained very enthusiastically and I think that members’ passion lead to the first prize in this competition. We are highly regarded as the students’ canoe team; we will train harder, so we will always aim for the first prize in every canoe competition. Thank you for the students’ interest and attention.”
Although CWNU canoe team doesn’t have a training place, they have always trained very hard for the next competitions. So many students should support them and cheer the canoe team.Lim Se-jin -
