The opening ceremony of the Biotech Research Building was held on March 17^th. In attendance were the president of CWNU, a member of the National Assembly, school administration members, professors, students, the president of a school supporting association, and people involved with the construction. They said the building will give CWNU the nation’s best level of research and experimental work.

Construction started in 2010, with the total cost at 14.3 billion won. The president of CWNU expects the building to launch CWNU into the global biology industry.

Building 35, the Biotech Research Building, is located next to, and linked to Building 31. There are two 24-passenger elevators. People related with the Department of Biology, the Department of Microbiology, and the Department of Biochemistry & Health Science will use the Biotech Research Building. There are department offices, university collaborating laboratories, seminar rooms, cold chambers, dark rooms, and rooms for cell culture. The building is 8397 square meters, and the building has 9 floors and a basement level. Previously, students of Biology, Microbiology, and Biochemistry & Health Science used Building 31. It will now be used by students from the Department of Nursing.

What's surprising here is the third and fourth floors of this building use geothermal heat for cooling and heating. Heat from the ground keeps its temperature, which is 15 degrees Celsius. 15 degrees Celsius is cool in summer, but warm in winter. That means it maintains a constant room temperature. It is very efficient and economical.
