The enormous 2014 entrance ceremony was held with the CWNU orchestra on March 3^rd. The theme of the entrance ceremony was ‘Dreams, challenges, and leaping forward.’ This year, more than 1800 freshmen, 87 graduate students, and 50 students from the Department of Doosan Heavy Industry, which is a new department, attended the event.

Last year, famous conductor Kum Nanse participated in the entrance ceremony. This year, 60 members of the CWNU orchestra, 50 students of the choir, and 40 students from the CWNU dance company participated. These performances made a good impression on the freshmen. Lee Jeong-yup, a worker from the Instruction & Entrance Section, said that he was happy to see different performances every year. “I wanted to avoid ordinary entrance ceremonies, and I hope that this brings hope for students,” he said.

The ceremony started with an opening announcement by the MC, and then continued with congratulatory messages from the president and others. The swearing-in ceremony was also performed.

The president of CWNU, Lee Chankyu, said, “Freshmen who emerge onto the global stage, and bolster high employment rates, are the hope of CWNU. I hope to produce students with good character, creativity, and professionalism.”

Freshmen enjoyed the entrance ceremony, and were amazed at how big the ceremony was. One student was curious if last year’s ceremony was like this one. Others complained that they had to go to classes after the ceremony.
