A teacher is surrounded by CWNU international students eager to learn the art of cooking traditional Korean food. |
One of the participating students said that he was glad because he learned how to make delicious Korean food by joining that class. He added that he could also enjoy learning Korean and make friends in the class. I was surprised athis speaking Korean fluently, because this student had moved to Korea only one month ago.
Noh Gyeong-seon, an instructor in the Korean Language School, said that it is one of the culture classes arranged by Korean Language School during this semester. She added that there used to be Korean classes run in both the morning and the afternoon, but now there are only morning classes, so the culture classes were introduced to replace the cancelled language classes this semester. The culture classes consist of TOPIK test preparation, the cooking class, and so on. In addition, she said that various other classes will begin in the language school soon. She also said that students in the cooking class should have a theory class before the practical class. In the theory class, students learn terms about cooking in Korean (e.g. boil, roast, and so on). As a result, students take more interest in the practical class, as they use the terms they learned in the theory class.
