Female students strumming away at the guitar class offered by 'The Dang Dang'. |
During a recent interview with 'The Dang Dang' president Jo A-ra (Dept. of Economics 09), she talked about the purpose of opening such a cultural class and gave some relevant information about the class.
She said "the reason for opening this class is the trend of female students becoming interested in playing the guitar, after watching the famous singer 'IU' play in the drama series 'Dream High.'" She thought that having a guitar class for female students would be a great idea.
There are three classes: Class A, Class B1 and Class B2. All classes meet two times a week and start at either 6:30 p.m. or 7:00 p.m. Class A meets on Monday and Wednesday, and Classes B1and B2 on Tuesday and Thursday. Each class lasts for about one hour each day, and the lessons vary according to the progress of each class. The number of participants is 35 for class A, and 21 for classes B1 and B2. There are three teachers, one for each class. The owner of Café Tree Guitar teaches class A, the security general of ¡®The Dang Dang¡¯ teaches class B1, and the security general of CWNU's Career Welfare Committee teaches class B2.
Lastly, Jo said that her resolution is to try to fulfill her election pledges.
After opening the class, I had a short interview with one of the participants:
1.Please tell me briefly about yourself.
- I¡¯m Jeong-Hwa Kim (Dept. of Fine Arts 09), the public relations director of the Career Welfare Committee.
2.Please share your thoughts on this class.
- I think this class is good because it is good for students who want to learn how to play instruments but worry about tuition fees and the cost of instruments since they are expensive.
And the teachers move at student's progress from the beginning, because this class if for first-timers. Besides, students can concentrate on classes well because teachers are professional, not amateur.
3.What is your wish for the general female students' association?
- I think they're doing well now, and they try to push forward their activities like cultural program. So I hope that their other activities will go well.
