The Dept. of International Relations has been selected to promote ‘Understanding of the business of the International Development Cooperation.’ This business is supported by KOICA. KOICA is a government grant organization for overseas volunteers dispatch and supports classes on the International Development Cooperation at more than 30 universities.
An open elective course in cultural studies in second semester of 2010 is Theories and Practices of the International Development Cooperation, and in the first semester of 2011 they will offer issues and cases of the International Development Cooperation. The topics of second semester 2010 include the past and present of the International Development Cooperation, UN millennium purpose, the main agents and individual issues of the International Development Cooperation, the ODA present and the case of KOREA, the plan of development for the future, etc. The class in first semester 2011 will cover the subjects of effectiveness, problems, and plans for development of the International Development Cooperation, focusing on the case of an individual nation. Importantly, students who complete this class will be given an opportunity to do organizational work at the International Development Cooperation, and to do overseas volunteering in a developing country in the 2010 winter vacation. CWNU’s dean of the Dept. of International Relations Moon Gyeong-Hui said “This will be a good opportunity for our students to learn about the International Development Cooperation develop expertise for the International Development Cooperation.”
