Trump is accused of leaking some highly classified information to the Russian foreign minister, Sergey Lavrov, and the Russian ambassador. President Trump gave some information regarding the fight against the Islamic State militant group. Trump is trying to warm relations with Russia. Furthermore, it is said that Russia favored Donald Trump over Hillary Clinton by a direct order from Vladimir Putin. “We assess Russian President Vladimir Putin ordered an influence on the campaign in 2016 aimed at the US presidential election. Russia's goals were to undermine public faith in the US democratic process, denigrate Secretary Clinton, and harm her electability and potential presidency. We further assess Putin and the Russian Government developed a clear preference for President-elect Trump. We have high confidence in these judgments,” suggested the Office of the Director of National Intelligence. The Office of the Director of National Intelligence stated that the Russian government hacked Clinton’s campaign’s server and email accounts and leaked some information to harm Clinton’s potential presidency. Last year the DNC stated that the source from WikiLeaks regarding the 20,000 emails sent or received from their Campaign was given from a Russian hacker group. In an interview, Trump said that this Scandal of him and Russia is a made-up story.

Consequently, the former national security adviser, Michael Flynn was fired in February. The media reported that Flynn discussed U.S. sanctions with the Russian Ambassador which was way out of range regarding conversations with other countries. Flynn resigned in February after misleading Vice President Mike Pence about his contacts with Russian ambassador Sergey Kislyak.

President Trump asked the former F.B.I. director to end the federal investigation, which has caused a huge controversy in the U.S. Comey took a memo shortly after a meeting, the day after Flynn was fired on February 14. "I hope you can see your way clear to letting this go, to letting Flynn go. He is a good guy. I hope you can let this go," wrote Comey. The memo shows some signs that Trump tried to end the investigation. Even though more evidence is needed to prove that Trump tried to interfere with the investigation, it is the strongest evidence yet. Requesting to shut down an ongoing investigation of activities during the campaign is obstruction of justice. This incident is very much familiar from Watergate when Richard Nixon was impeached for ordering the stop of an investigation.

People are questioning whether President Trump could be impeached. In theory, it is possible since he can be accused of violations of his oath of office to “preserve, protect, and defend” the US constitution. However, the impeachment will not be an easy process since the Republicans are controlling the House by 238 to 193.

Nevertheless, the impeachment of President Trump seems to be possible in the United States. Currently, over 48 percent of the U.S citizens are supporting Trump’s impeachment. Those who agree the President’s impeachment suggests that the President committed an impeachable act and they are saying that this incident is a Watergate size and scale which will eventually lead to Trump’s impeachment.
