How do I know this? Many students have told me so. Not just one student. Not just two or three friends in the same class. Many different students in different classes. People who don’t know each other. People who have never met one another, and probably have almost nothing in common. Some of them are male. Some of them are female. Some are freshmen, and some are seniors. They come from different majors and different cities.
They all have one thing in common. They know that Kim Tae Hee is The Most Beautiful Woman in the World. Could they all be wrong about this? Before we look at this issue scientifically, let us look at a few basic facts. Kim Tae Hee was born on March 29th, 1980. This is useful information, but it is a little confusing. First of all, a March 29th birthday makes her an Aries, the first of the twelve signs of the zodiac—that’s first, as in Number 1. Maybe that means she is number 1 in something. (Beauty?) On the other hand, she was born in 1980. This means she turns 31 this year, in western age. One thing all Koreans know is that Kim Tae Hee is The Most Beautiful Woman in the World. But another thing all Koreans know is that 30 is old. And in 2011 Kim Tae Hee turns 31! That means she is “Old plus One!” Can an old person be beautiful? Can someone who is “Old plus One” be The Most Beautiful Woman in the World?
This issue is too complicated. Everyone knows she is The Most Beautiful Woman in the World, but everyone also knows she is old. I’m no expert, so I can’t solve this problem alone. To decide whether all these people are right about her beauty, or whether they are suffering from some kind of mass delusion or mass hypnosis, we need to do some research. We need a scientific approach. We need experts. And what do the experts say?
The HanCinema website separated women into their various body parts, and selected the most beautiful woman for each part. Kim Tae Hee won for “Best Eyes” with an amazing 8 votes! However, Kim Hye Soo got the most votes for “Best Chest” (6), Jeon Ji Hyeon got the most votes for “Best Bodyline/Back” (3/6), Han Ga In won for “Best Nose” (3), and Song Hye Kyo won “Best Mouth” (6). But Kim Tae Hee made a comeback, winning “Best Face Symmetry” with 7 votes.
Let’s analyze these experts’ opinions. Although other actresses won some body parts, Kim Tae Hee was one of only two people to win more than one body part, and she was the only person to get more than 6 votes for any part. Therefore, from this scientific study we learn that the common opinion about Kim Tae Hee is true.
And if you are still unsure about this result—although I don’t know why you would doubt it—you needn’t trust me. As I said, I’m no expert. The real experts on beauty, of course, are plastic surgeons. And the Best Plastic Surgeon in the World, Jo Eul Jae, says, “Kim Tae Hee has a small facial outline, and the forehead to eyebrows, eyebrows to nose, and nose to chin all keep the Golden Proportion.”
So the truth is clear. Kim Tae Hee really is The Most Beautiful Woman in the World—if you only look at her face, and don’t notice her nose and mouth.
