What is the thought that most causes you to feel bad about yourself? Is it that you don't know a lot of things, or you think that you look ugly or don’t have a nice body? I think the worst moment is when we compare ourselves to others. After comparing every part (personality, appearance, intelligence) to others, we feel a sense of shame or we are in the doldrums. And yet we are the same person before and after making this comparison. Nothing has changed except our mind.
So, I want to tell you, "Don't compare yourself to others" and "confidence and shame are not contrary concepts.” Confidence is changed to by comparing yourself to others. If you don't do that, it is not going to happen. For example, I was well-dressed and went out on the street to a fashion show. When I looked around, I was the best dresser on the street. At that moment, I was supremely confident. But, there are many people better than me in the fashion show. Now, I started to shrink and felt shame. Why did this happen? I was wearing exactly the same clothes, but only changed my mind because I compare myself to others.
A lot of successful people say that one of secret is "Don't compare yourself to others". For example, there is Ahn Cheol-soo, who suggests the solution to this self-doubt is looking down. It means look back at your own achievements and gather your wits.Even if you see a successful man, there are higher achievers than him. And if now I'm imperfect and lacking compared to others, there is no law that this will stay the same in the future. Not thinking about others is a very difficult thing, but if you think you'll be better than them in the future and try hard, you will be a truly successful person. Cheer up! You are a hero in your life.
