Some students living in the dormitories posed questions about it, but the Students¡¯ Association didn¡¯t give a definite answer. Students are wondering why they used funds for personal use. Some misappropriated statements about use of funds include spending money on numerous retreats. The association went to the first retreat in March during the first semester, and went on three more retreats during the second semester in August, September and November. The money spent on their retreats came to roughly 2 million won. Secondly, they spent school funds on personal clothing. They bought jackets with dormitory funds, and stated that they were necessary expenses because they worked at night, during harsh weather. But this makes little sense. Thirdly, they used money for a member¡¯s birthday party. They admitted it, but students are demanding not only an admission of guilt, but restitution as well. Finally, there is a dubious statement about delivery service labor expenses, which add up to 1.5 million won. Dormitory students didn¡¯t know about that, and they posed questions about the legitimacy of these expenses. Many other doubtful points came to mind regarding the budget statement.
¡°I pay my dormitory membership fee regularly,¡± said Jung Da-hee (Dept. of English Language & Literature). ¡°I am so disappointed in the Dormitory Students¡¯ Association. I greatly distrust that association, and other students surely feel the same.¡±
The Students¡¯ Association held a hearing on Tuesday, April 9 at the 4-dong seminar room to answer questions.
