On March 4, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. there was a CWNU entrance ceremony at KBS hall. It was different from last year because we were joined by Department Chair Guem Nan-sae and the Eurasian Chamber Orchestra.
Many students, parents and others interested in CWNU attended ceremony. The orchestra played the music of Mozart, Vivaldi, and Britten. Professor Guem conducted the Four Seasons. He explained that in Summer you can imagine a windstorm raging after hot sunlight. Many audience members enjoyed this piece a lot as it is very popular around the world.
Before any of the music was performed, Professor Guem interpreted it for the audience so that it could be easily appreciated. The last song was Britten's Simple Symphony Op. 4. This symphony is unusual because the second movement uses the pizzicato style of plucking the string instruments by hand. He explained the violin part represents a child that boasts of something he or she wants to have. The cello part also answers the violins as another child who envies him and makes bigger boasts. The funny interpretations of the music by Professor Guem made everyone in the audience feel that this was a special concert.
To new freshmen who have expectations about the romance of university life, live with passion this year. You have the freedom to make it fun or not, so enjoy your life. Experience whatever you want and realize your dreams! Unimportant things will come together with important ones to form your total experience.
