In the first Nightingale swearing-in ceremony, 27 nursing students swore that they would keep a sense of responsibility and obligation which nurses should have in their hearts, and maintain a devotional sense of duty and deep love for patients.
After the ceremony, the student who planned it, So Hye-nam (Dept. of Nursing ¡¯10), talked about her feelings while preparing it. ¡°Preparation of the ceremony was hard because we didn¡¯t have an established outline, or things such as practice clothing, and our third grade students are the first students of the Dept. of Nursing. But we felt so good because the event was entirely designed by ourselves. And I hope for a much better ceremony next year.¡±
I interviewed two students participating in the ceremony, Park Jung-hun and Chae A-rim (Dept. of Nursing, ¡¯10).
Q1: How did you feel after the Nightingale swearing-in ceremony?
A (Park & Chae ): I felt so good. I didn¡¯t feel so serious about studying until now.
But after the ceremony, I naturally felt, ¡®Now, I am really a nurse¡¯. And I could have a sense of duty.
Q2. What kind of a nurse do you want to be?
A (Park ): I want to be a nurse who does not cause patients trouble, since, though my fault may be small, it can be a very serious problem to patients.
A (Chae): I will live as a righteous nurse. And I want to be an advanced practice nurse, so I¡¯ll carry out my duty to the fullest. Also, as one of the first students of the Dept. of Nursing at CWNU, I want to become a role model to our juniors.
