Summer season university student internship
Student Kim Se-young conducts an experiment with a trainor during internship.
Most students mainly improve their qualifications one step further by studying TOEIC or TOFEL, acquiring certificates related to computers and their majors, doing internships, and so on. Among these, we are going to learn about internships! In some cases, students apply for internships by themselves, but CWNU supports many internship programs for our students.

First, the Human Resources Development Center is operating a new employment program to train practically talented people with a cosmopolitan outlook. As a project of the Education Capability Reinforcement Support Business, it has established a Youth Internship Program, and through the support of Changwon City, it dispatched 16 enrolled students and graduates to business sites in Australia and China as interns. This program is designed systematically, from domestic on-board training (concentrated foreign language education, 8 weeks) to on the spot adaptation education (2 weeks), and internship work (Australia 12 weeks, China 24 weeks), so that students who find work can gather actual practical experience and develop a competitive edge. Last June, the center selected 10 Australia interns who will enter fields related to management, accounting, marketing, distribution, and service, and 6 China interns majoring in shipbuilding and machinery, and performed concentrated foreign language education from Jun 20th to August 12th. Interns who completed this education gathered experience and learned a job from August 15th at Australian Accor Group, CNTO, Meriton, Hyundai Motors, Hanjin, SBS, Shanghai of China and Hyundai Wia. 10 Students who were dispatched to Australia received on the spot adaptation training, such as basic knowledge training, the Labor Standards Act, Labor Law, Visa Law, workplace safety education, presentation skills, communication method, etc., for the first 2 weeks after departure, and then began their main work from August 29th to November 18th. In addition, 6 students dispatched to China will be joining their field until January 27the of next year after completing on the spot on-board job education. The manager of the Human Resources Development Center said, "It is not going out overseas simply to learn language, but it is an attractive program through which lively fields of world business can be experienced by utilizing foreign language proficiency and knowledge from one¡¯s major." He added, "Even in the future, we will develop and execute various programs that will ensure stable internships for our students."

Next, in the offshore plant of CWNU, the Field Adaptation Education Program is executed as a course in Offshore Plant education. During this summer vacation, the offshore plant sent 46 plant participants to businesses so that they could develop their practical abilities. It is as good as catching two hares at once, getting a grade and also applying the subject learned in class to the field.

Finally, the Department of Food and Nutrition, as a summer session class, opened the ¡°Internship for Training Human Resources in the Food industry¡± course. A total of 10 students participated in the Food Industry within Gyeongnam and received practical training for 3 weeks. Student Kim Se-young (Food and Nutrition major, 08) who participated in the internship said, "It was a genuine learning site where I could learn the basics regarding oil experiments, and learn the operating method of machines necessary for experimenting with resin components, as well as the role of such machines. It was a great help to me, as I study daily in a lab, and through this opportunity I developed a higher passion for experimentation."
