¡®Sanak¡¯ means mountains and ¡®bu¡¯ means organization. ¡®Sanakbu¡¯ has a 32 year history and many older alumni. The members usually hike Jeongbyeong, Palyeong, and Cheonju Mountains twice a month. In addition, they climbed Seorak Mountain during the last summer vacation.
Due to its strong ties with seniors, the group can provide mountain-climbing equipment: hiking boots, clothes, tents, and so on. Therefore, even if students do not have their own equipment, it does not matter.
Lee Pil-A (Dept. of Microbiology, 08), the chief of ¡®Sanakbu¡¯, said ¡°¡¯Sanakbu¡¯ is a gathering of people who love the mountains. It is enjoyable to climb mountains. Although the process of climbing is strenuous, the pleasure of being at the top of the mountain is great. It is like an electrifying victory. Many people think climbing is very hard and dangerous. But climbing is safe with safety regulations and equipment. In addition, climbing is not only strengthens one¡¯s physical wellbeing, but also cultivates character. ¡®Sanakbu¡¯ is equipped with the newest equipment. It does not entail enormous costs. Everybody who likes mountains is always welcome. Please do not hesitate to contact us. My cell phone number is 010-6287-9195.¡±
