Challenging the Disabled Youth

The 'Youth IT Challenge Contest' was held on Friday, April 30, from 10:30 a.m. to 15:00 p.m., at the CWNU Computer and Information Center. This contest was hosted by Gyeongnam Disabled People Rehabilitation Association and CWNU's Department of Computer Engineering. It is hoped that through this competition, young people with disabilities could cope with the information age. An official in the contest said "The purpose of this contest is to give opportunities to disabled people to develop their IT abilities and reduce the digital information gap." A guardian said "It's good to see that all the children are all enthusiastic. But I still want my child to do better than others."

The competition targeted 14-24 year-old disabled students from special education schools, middle schools, and high schools. The competition included games such as 'e-Life' (Internet information search), 'e-Tool' (Powerpoint), and 'e-Sports' (Kartrider). The competition was particularly high for the e-Sports (Kartrider) event.

The 17 winners of the contest will qualify for the 'National IT Challenge for the Disabled Youth' organized by SK Telecom and the Korean Association for the Rehabilitation of Disable People. The national competition will be held for two days, June 16~17. During the competition, the contestants were all focused in order to reap good results, while the parents and guardians anxiously waited for the results. In addition, the competition coordinators did their best during the event.
