Marathon for Spreading Hope
Marathon winners! Students of the Dept. of Physical Education who led the team standings posed 'Victory'

The 26th general student association, ReBorn, held the 2010 Marathon for Spreading Hope. The event¡¯s purpose is to regain the April 19th Revolution¡¯s spirit of freedom and equality. The faith in freedom and equality make all people into one, so we must spread hope to people around us who are in difficulty.

The Marathon¡¯s application period was from April 19th to May 3rd, and the race began at 2:00pm on May 3rd. The event was open not only to CWNU students, professors, executives and staff members, but also to all citizens of Changwon. Anyone who completed the marathon received a ¡°Finish Badge.¡± And on the principle that no one is second class or first class, everyone drew lots for prizes.

The prizes included a Lotte Department Store gift certificate, a gift card, Netbook, DSLR camera, etc. The entry fee was 1000 won for CWNU students, 5000 won for non-students. The total amount raised will help children of broken homes and CWNU students suffering from leukemia. There were 455 participants, 440 from CWNU. After warming up, the race began with a starter¡¯s gun. The route passed the college of Engineering, CWNU¡¯s back gate, the provincial government building, and Sungsan Art Hall. The runners turned at the main square in Changwon, passed the provincial art museum, and came to CWNU¡¯s front gate. Then they returned to the starting point, completing the 7km distance. About 130 students among the participants finished this course.

The shortest time recorded among non-student participants was 25 minutes, by Seong-Ji, a Buddhist monk. Among the students, the shortest time belonged to Ha Byung-Gun (Dept. of Physical Education 09). They received 200,000 won as prize money. In addition, the Dept. of Physical Education had the shortest team time, and the Dept. of Industrial System Engineering had the most participants. Both teams received 200,000 won as prize money.

The ReBorn said, ¡°Thank you for a lot of interest and participation in this festival. We work hard all the time. Please participate often in our festival.¡±
