Kim So-Ri (Dept. of Physical Education, 08) won the 'President's championship flag', a nationwide table tennis Championship that was held at Che-chun gymnasium, Che-chun City, Chungcheongbuk-do, from April 15 until 20.
She won over player Choi Jung-Min (Catholic University of Daegu) at the semifinals, and Yu Sol-Ri (Sungkyunkwan University) at the finals, making her the overall winner of the championship flag. CWNU's table tennis team won second place in the Women's team competition, and in the Women's individual competitions, they won third.
The men's team also took the third place in the Men's team competition and the Men's individual competitions. However, Kim So-Ri is a bronze medalist in the 25th summer Universiad table tennis. She is the member of the National Table Tennis Team, and she is the only Korean that got a medal.
She said, "When I first heard that I got a gold medal in this championship, I was so pleased. And I can't believe that news." She added, "always want to play with my friends. But I toiled and concentrated in training during this period. So I'm satisfied with this result." CWNU is famous for table tennis. The CWNU Table Tennis Team is always trained thorugh a hardcore program. Their program is composed of weight training, skills training, and basic physical strength training. They do every training program rigidly for 3 or 4 hours a day.
The next goal of Kim So-Ri is the National Sports Festival in October. She will participate in many small championships to accumulate experience. She said "I will keep going for my goal." Her next goal is to be the National Sports Festival gold medalist.
